Chief owes his name to his old age. He’s not that old; about five or six years old… Quite old for a stray though. I noticed Chief limping his way on the road and I stopped to have a closer look. He hopped on my scooter, he lied down, almost collapsed and he said “Help me, I’m ridden with fleas and I’m hurting.” The first thing we did for him was to get rid of all the fleas, lice, and ticks. He was infected to the point where he was literally being eaten alive. Chief was very emaciated and anemic (mostly due to flea infestation). He also had a tumor on his front leg and he had a mangled paw. Our veterinary thinks his paw was rolled over by a car. When we rescued him, Chief weighed 13 kilos. He is now fully recovered and weighs a whopping 20 kilos. Chief is house-trained, scooter-trained, and he is not a chewer. He is very calm and great with cats, dogs, and young children.
